What's the big deal here?
Ive and Grug are both participants in the Daily Grind competition and both were in a bit of a comics-slump and decided to do a comic together. That way both would be inspired by the others work and neither would want to turn in a crappy comic because the other guy would be disappointed.
They didn't want to have to do a continuing comic though, not something that would get lost and convoluted, so an idea was hit upon: they'd both draw comics set in the same universe, but not needing to contain the same characters or follow a story arc.
Set it in the future! Where anything can happen!
And what would be even better?
If everyone could draw it with them!
The future is a huge place with a cast of billions! And ANYTHING goes!
The rules?
There are no rules!
OK, there are suggestions, but you can do more or less what you want.
For starters, don't steal anyone else's characters or copyrighted material. Duh. That's pretty obvious!
We suggest that you don't use your pre-existing characters. Anything that goes on this page paints a part of the whole universe and become fair game for anyone else contributing.
We were thinking we'd kind of like to collect these into a book, so if you could keep them to a uniform A4 size, that would be pretty swell, but some comics don't work in a set format and we'll be happy to take them anyway and try to lay them out so they work, or skip them.
Also, we won't be printing in colour, so it's best if your comic is in black and white (grey is fine) but, again, you make the comic you want to make. We'll either print it in greyscale or leave it out of the book.
The tone is (so far) fairly family safe, like about where The Simpsons or something similar pitches. It'd be nice to keep it that way, changing the whole "rating" of a book just for one strip seems a shame.
Oh, and keep them to 700 pixels or less wide. Thanks!
PLEASE contribute a strip, and if you like it do a whole bunch! Ultimately our goal is to take over the whole internet!
Note: If a book happens, it will be a POD deal, sold at cost, meaning there will be no profit for anyone, and, unfortunately, contributors will have to buy their own copies of the book. (you will be emailed before the book is put together and if you want out, you are more than welcome to sit out)
